Squarespace Website Portfolio Gallery and
E-Commerce Store for a Fine Artist
What they needed: a fine art website, gallery, and store!
Chat Forbes is a prolific artist on the coast of Oregon in the US, and his artwork is clearly inspired by his world travels. He needed a website to showcase his oil paintings, drawings, and gouache paintings and make it easy for visitors to purchase his prints and originals.

What we did: a Squarespace e-commerce website to showcase and sell fine art prints (and originals!)
Chat had a few customizations in mind, including a categorized shop, separate galleries in a dropdown, custom three-lined titles that connect gallery to store to product purchase page, and a ton of variants for paper, finishes, sizes, and framing, often including the original artwork for sale! We set up international and domestic shipping and even built in a custom “refresh options” button for each product when Squarespace’s native variant selector went on the fritz, just reinforcing that there’s a solution for everything (and there are usually a few).

Simplicity of Style
Chat’s artwork is the star of the show here, so our customizations were more functional than stylistic:

What do I need to have ready to build an e-commerce site?
The best thing we’ll start to do is organize your products and, if you have any, your product variants. This means the sizes, colors, and combinations of options someone can choose when they want to purchase something from your store. But don’t worry, I set you up with the structure for all of it!
